WHERE TO EAT

Best Restaurants in Manuel Antonio: A Local's Guide

The best restaurants in Manuel Antonio sit along the hillside road between Quepos and the national park: ocean-view terraces made for sunset, relaxed spots for Costa Rican food and seafood, and a handful of dining rooms for a special night. We start with our own two at ECOTICA, La POZA and YOLO Social, both open to everyone, then share the places we happily send our guests to. Every restaurant on this list was checked as operating in October 2026.

QUICK LIST

Manuel Antonio Restaurants at a Glance

Manuel Antonio is compact, so most of these restaurants are a short drive apart along the main road (Route 618) that climbs from Quepos over the ridge to the beaches. Use this table to match a place to the moment, then read on for the details.

ON SITE AT ECOTICA

We're Biased, But Start Here: La POZA and YOLO Social

We’re biased, of course, but we think our own two restaurants are a lovely place to begin, and both are open to everyone, not only hotel guests.

La POZA is our poolside restaurant, set in the rainforest of ECOTICA’s 10-acre private reserve. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6 am to 9 pm, and the setting does half the work: howler and capuchin monkeys, sloths, toucans and scarlet macaws are often seen in the trees around the pool. Mornings begin slowly by the water, and evenings slow down even more with a cocktail as the forest turns gold.

YOLO Social is our bar and restaurant, open 11 am to 11 pm, with live music every night and the big games on screen. The kitchen serves food until 11 pm, which makes it one of the easiest late dinners in town, and there’s a kids’ menu for families. Both La POZA and YOLO Social offer vegetarian and vegan options.

SUNSET & VIEWS

Restaurants with a Sunset View

Manuel Antonio faces the Pacific, and the ridge above the beaches turns dinner into a show around sunset. These are the spots known for the view.

  • El Avión: a bar and restaurant built around a Fairchild C-123 cargo plane, on the main road about 2 km before the park. Seafood and international dishes, with ocean and sunset views. Mid-range to upper mid-range.
  • Le Papillon: the fine-dining restaurant at La Mariposa Hotel, known for surf and turf and a sweeping sunset view. One of the most loved dining rooms in the area.
  • La Terraza Café Bar Restaurante: next to Hotel La Arboleda, serving seafood and sushi with a sunset view.
  • Ronny’s Place: about 800 m down a side road off the main road, on a ridge with ocean and sunset views. Costa Rican food and seafood.
  • Restaurante Marlin: right on the beach facing Playa Espadilla, for seafood and Costa Rican plates close to the sand.

Ronny’s Place takes a seasonal break in the quiet months, so check its hours before you go.

CASUAL & LOCAL

Casual Spots and Costa Rican Food

Costa Rica’s everyday food is honest and satisfying: a casado plate of rice, beans, salad, plantain and a main, fresh ceviche, grilled fish. You’ll find it in small family-run sodas around Quepos and on many local menus. For a deeper look at the dishes, see our guide to Costa Rican food and before-you-go tips.

  • Manuel Antonio Falafel Bar: a women-owned Middle Eastern and Israeli spot on the main road with a salad bar. Vegetarian-friendly and budget-friendly.
  • El Wagon: pizza and casual Italian on Route 618, mid-range.
  • Rico Tico Jungle Grill: at Hotel Sí Como No, a grill with Costa Rican and international dishes.
  • El Gran Escape: in Quepos town, a seafood restaurant and bar known for fresh tuna. Worth pairing with a stroll around town.
  • Zi Lounge: a block off Playa Espadilla, a bar-restaurant with live music that stays open late into the night.

CAFÉS & BREAKFAST

Cafés and Breakfast Spots

Mornings in Manuel Antonio start early, often with monkeys in the trees and the park opening at 7 am. These cafés make an easy first stop.

  • El Patio de Café Milagro: on the main road near ECOTICA, a café with Costa Rican and international plates and live music. Relaxed and affordable.
  • Emilio’s Café: right beside ECOTICA at the Hotel Parador entrance road, a Mediterranean-style café known for breakfast, desserts and an ocean view.
  • Café Agua Azul: also beside ECOTICA, above Villas El Parque, a casual lunch spot loved for its tuna tostadas and ocean view.

SPECIAL DINNERS

For a Special Dinner

For an anniversary, a proposal or simply the best night of the trip, these restaurants set a more polished table.

  • Victoria’s Gourmet Italian: on the main road next to Tulemar, classic Italian with reservations through OpenTable.
  • Mangata (Fusión Peruana): Peruvian fusion on Route 235 toward Quepos, among the highest-rated restaurants in the area on Google. When we checked, it was closed on Mondays.
  • Restaurante La Cantina: BBQ, grill and whole fish, opening in the evening for dinner.
  • Gabriella’s Steak Seafood & Pasta: at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, steak and seafood with a view over the marina, opening in the late afternoon for dinner.
